All aboard! ‘Brilliant’ free exhibition train to arrive in Hull and Scarborough

TransPennine Express (TPE) is inviting people to step aboard Inspiration as the hugely popular free exhibition train arrives in Hull and Scarborough stations next month.

The interactive attraction, which has already welcomed more than 90,000 visitors during its nationwide tour, will call at Hull Paragon station from Friday 5 to Sunday 7 June before making its final stop at Scarborough station between Saturday 20– Monday 22 June.

Part of Railway 200, the national celebration marking 200 years since the birth of the modern railway, Inspiration has travelled Britain on a 60-stop, year-long tour, bringing the story of the railway to life through immersive displays, fascinating facts and hands-on experiences.

Hull and Scarborough will provide some of the final opportunities for customers, families and railway enthusiasts to experience the unique exhibition before the train’s journey comes to an end.

Co-curated with the National Railway Museum, the travelling exhibition is packed with interactive exhibits, personal stories and rare artefacts exploring the railway’s past, present and future.

Visitors can take part in engineering challenges, discover lesser-known careers on the railway and learn how rail transformed travel, communities and everyday life across Britain.

Darren Higgins, Commercial Director for TransPennine Express, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Inspiration to Hull and Scarborough as the exhibition reaches the final stage of its incredible journey around Britain.

“These final stops are a fantastic opportunity for people to experience something truly special, celebrate Yorkshire’s proud railway heritage and be inspired by the future of rail travel.”

Emma Roberts, Programme Manager for Railway 200, said:“ Railways are one of history’s most important inventions and inside this train you can explore the story of rail in a fun and family-friendly environment.

"Inspiration has already travelled thousands of miles across Britain – from Scotland to Southampton – and we are hugely excited to welcome locals aboard in Hull and Scarborough. Inspiration’s tour is coming to an end in June and this will be one of your last opportunities to see it – so make don't miss out!”

Tickets are free, but availability is limited with visitors encouraged to book in advance via the Railway 200 website: railway200.co.uk/inspiration/
