Free railway exhibition train proves a hit in Hull

TransPennine Express (TPE) invited people to step aboard Inspiration as the hugely popular free exhibition train arrived at Hull Paragon station over the weekend.

The interactive attraction, which had already welcomed more than 90,000 visitors during its nationwide tour, was at Hull Paragon station from Friday 5– Sunday 7 June.

Part of Railway 200, the national celebration marking 200 years since the birth of the modern railway, Inspiration travelled Britain on a 60-stop, year-long tour, bringing the story of the railway to life through immersive displays, fascinating facts and hands-on experiences.

Co-curated with the National Railway Museum, the travelling exhibition was packed with interactive exhibits, personal stories and rare artefacts exploring the railway’s past, present and future.

Visitors took part in engineering challenges, discovered lesser-known careers on the railway and learned how rail transformed travel, communities and everyday life across Britain.

Hull provided one of the final opportunities for customers, families and railway enthusiasts to experience the unique exhibition.

Andrew McClements, Customer Experience & Transformation Director for TransPennine Express, said: “We were delighted to welcome Inspiration to Hull as the train continued its incredible journey around Britain.

“This was a fantastic opportunity for people to experience something truly special, celebrate Hull and Yorkshire’s proud railway heritage and be inspired by the future of rail travel.”

Inspiration will continue its journey with a small number of remaining stops, including its final destination in Scarborough on Monday 22 June.

Tickets are free, but availability is limited and visitors are encouraged to book in advance via the Railway 200 website: railway200.co.uk/inspiration/.
