Malton station shines bright with festive creations from local pupils
Malton station has been given a festive makeover this December, thanks to the creativity of pupils from St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in Malton.
Eight Year 6 pupils visited the station to decorate the Christmas tree with handmade baubles they designed in class, bringing colour, warmth and seasonal cheer to the station concourse.
The project was delivered in partnership between TransPennine Express (TPE) and St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, supporting TPE’s ongoing commitment to building strong links with the communities it serves and celebrating the creativity of young people across its network.
Andrew McClements, Customer Experience & Transformation Director at TransPennine Express, said: “It’s fantastic to see Malton station filled with colour and festive cheer thanks to the creativity of pupils from St Mary’s Catholic Primary School.
“Our stations are an important part of the communities they serve, and partnerships like this help create welcoming spaces while giving young people the opportunity to showcase their talents.”
Mr Harrison, teacher at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, said: “The children were incredibly proud to see their decorations displayed at Malton station.
“Projects like this give pupils a real sense of achievement and show them that their creativity can make a positive difference in the local community. It’s been a wonderful experience for them to be part of something that brings joy to so many people.”
The initiative forms part of TPE’s growing programme of school engagement activities, designed to connect stations with their local communities while giving young people the chance to display their work in a public space.
The pupils’ festive decorations are now on display at Malton station, bringing extra Christmas cheer to passengers and staff throughout December.
