New TPE train timetable will introduce all-night Manchester airport services

TransPennine Express (TPE) is set to introduce a new timetable next month with services to run all night to and from Manchester Airport.

The addition of eight new services will mean that there will be a train roughly every hour between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport all day, every day.

Alongside the rest of the rail industry, the train operator will introduce a new timetable from Sunday 17 May.

The move is aimed at improving connectivity for passengers travelling early in the morning or late at night, particularly those flying in and out of the UK’s third‑busiest airport.

TPE will also introduce an additional weekday call at Dewsbury on the 08.05am Leeds to Manchester Piccadilly service. The stop is new to the timetable and is expected to support students and commuters travelling into Manchester, offering greater flexibility for early‑morning journeys.

Elsewhere, customers will benefit from additional services for a month over the summer during the Edinburgh Fringe.

TPE is set to run two extra services a day for festivalgoers after they have spent time at this year’s festival.

The train operator will run the additional services from Monday 3 August until Friday 4 September alongside its usual timetable to support those returning from a show, whether it be live music, comedy, or dance.

Andrew McClements, Customer Experience & Transformation Director at TPE, said: “Although most of our services are unchanged, we encourage customers to take a moment to check any journeys they make regularly.

“We’re pleased to be introducing services that give customers more choice, added flexibility, and an improved overall experience when travelling with us.”

TPE also reminded passengers to check journey information before travelling, as planned engineering work may result in some temporary changes to services.
