Poppy Wall at Hull Paragon Station created to honour the fallen for Remembrance Day

To honour our fallen soldiers, the train company invited school children from across its network to design and create poppies to form part of a display at the station.

More than 2,000 poppies were produced by students from schools across the North of England from Cumbria to Calderdale and Greater Manchester to Hull itself.

The poppies, which were transported by TPE train to Hull, were then added to a large map of the TPE network to form a commemorative Poppy Wall.

Participating schools from across Hull were invited to attend to see their hard work on display and attend a memorial service at Hull Paragon station on Remembrance Day. Attendees included Thanet Primary School, Thoresby Primary School, Adelaide Primary School and Venn Academy along with managers from TPE.

Daniel Fox, Community Manager for TransPennine Express, who attended the memorial service and helped put the Poppy Wall together commented: “It has been moving to see the overwhelming response from the community, with 33 schools participating from all across our network. We think this is a fantastic way to honour the memory of those who have served, as well as recognising those who still do. We welcome the opportunity to do our bit to help educate young minds on the importance and meaning of Remembrance Day.”
