Selby school children create a winter wonderland at TPE Station
Passengers at Selby station are being greeted with a touch of festive magic this December, thanks to the creative efforts of children from nearby St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School.
Around 20 pupils from the school visited the station to decorate the Christmas tree with baubles they had designed and created themselves in class.
The project was a collaboration between the school and TransPennine Express (TPE)
Andrew Watkins, Community and Development Manager at TPE, said: “It was fantastic to see the children’s creativity and excitement as they proudly displayed their handmade decorations. We want our stations to be the heart of the community, and it was wonderful to see everyone coming together.”
The children’s efforts have transformed the station into a cheerful winter wonderland, bringing a smile to passengers and creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere for the holiday season.
Helen Jellett, Deputy Headteacher at St. Mary’s Catholic Primary School, added: “Our children were so excited to take part in this project and showcase their creativity. It’s wonderful to see their work making a real impact in the local community.”
