Stalybridge honoured at Best Kept Stations awards

TransPeninne Express (TPE) is celebrating after Stalybridge station scooped a prestigious ‘Best Kept’ award.

The station collected the Chris Dale TravelWatch Award at the recent Cheshire’s Best Kept Stations event in recognition of the ongoing work to deliver the best possible travel environment for customers.

Billy Vickers, Head of Stations and Safeguarding at TPE, said: “We’re delighted that Stalybridge station has been recognised in the Cheshire Best Kept Station Awards, and that the hard work and friendliness of our colleagues has been acknowledged.

“This award is the result of lots of hard work from the team at Stalybridge – and in other departments within TPE – to always put our customers first and, day in day out, to make the station a welcoming place.”

Billy added: “But the work doesn’t stop and we’re always seeking new and innovative ways to make our stations – and our whole network – even more customer friendly. We’ve recently introduced British Sign Language options on our digital display screens as well as a number of other features that mean people with specific accessibility needs can explore all the North has to offer.”

Cheshire’s Best Kept Stations is a celebration of the volunteers and local railway community who, through their skills, passion and hard work, brighten up the stations in pre-boundary change Cheshire.

Mark Angelucci, Rail Performance Officer for Transport for Greater Manchester said: “Stalybridge received the award for being well-maintained and well run by TPE. It has also seen continued investment in passenger facilities over the years.”
