TPE colleague’s Movember mission
A member of staff at TransPennine Express (TPE) has raised more than £1,000 for the children of a colleague who died earlier this year.
Scott Jarvis, 56, from Droylsden, has raised the money for the family of his late colleague Dominic Johns. Dominic, known as Dom, was a Driver Manager based at Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street, and sadly died in March 2023.
Scott, who grew a moustache in an effort to raise the money during Movember, said: “This year, I took part in Movember in honour of Dom who passed away earlier this year, leaving behind two young sons.
“I wanted to raise money to support and surprise his children so that they can have some fun, especially since its their first Christmas without him.”
Scott shared his fundraising efforts across the TPE network, where his colleagues donated and left words of encouragement for Scott and Dominic’s family.
Scott added: “Dom was a great guy. As soon as you met him, he would make you feel like a friend. He lived life to the fullest and gave everything 100 per cent, whether it was work or pleasure.
“Dom was there for me for the four years we worked together, and I feel like this is the least I can do to thank him and support his family.”
Scott will keep his Just Giving page open until February 2024 to continue supporting Dominic’s family into the new year and throughout January.
Dom’s mother, Joan Potts, said: “I would like to thank Scott and everybody at TPE so much for their wonderful fundraising for my grandsons this Christmas.
“We miss Dominic dearly, and I’m sure he would be appreciative of everybody’s efforts - and very impressed by Scott’s moustache.”
