TPE hit a six with station benches donation to Brocklesby Park Cricket Club
TransPennine Express (TPE) has knocked it out of the park by donating five benches to a community cricket club.
The train operator has given Brocklesby Park Cricket the game-changing seating after improvements at some of its stations which include newer, more accessible benches.
Steve Gilder, Lead Sustainability Manager for TransPennine Express, said: “We have improved station seating to include features such as armrests or higher-level seats to assist those with mobility issues.”
“Not wanting the benches to go to waste, we thought they should have a new home in the local community, where they will take on a new lease of life.”
Thanks to freight operator DB Cargo, the benches found their way to Brocklesby Park Cricket Club's home turf at the nearby Keelby Sports Ground.
Richard Bedwell, from Brocklesby Park Cricket Club, said: “A big thank you to TransPennine Express for donating these benches; they will go a long way to helping make our cricket ground a more welcoming place for teams to play and the local community to visit.”
