TPE lines up additional evening service for fans returning from the Super League Grand Final
TransPennine Express (TPE) has lined up an additional evening service for those returning from the highly anticipated Super League Grand Final this weekend.
To accommodate rugby fans heading home from Old Trafford after the event, TPE is adding a special service, departing from Manchester Piccadilly at 9:13pm on Saturday 12 October.
This additional train will stop at Stalybridge, Huddersfield, Leeds, Selby and Brough, before arriving in Hull at 11:28pm.
The train company is also introducing an extra stop at Wigan North Western on one of its existing services, just for the evening.
The 9:04pm train from Manchester Airport to Preston, will also call at Wigan North Western at 9:55pm before arriving at Preston at 10:09pm, just three minutes later than usual.
Kathryn O’Brien, Customer Experience & Transformation Director at TransPennine Express, said: “With the match promising to be a nail-biter, we’re ensuring fans don’t get caught offside when it comes to travel.
“We’re excited to provide these additional services for fans heading home from the Super League Grand Final. This special train and added stops are part of our commitment to ensuring smooth, reliable travel for fans returning from one of the biggest sporting events of the year.
“Services may be busy, so we urge customers to book in advance and check before they travel.”
