TransPennine Express’s Class 185 trains have been recognised – for the ninth time - at a prestigious engineering and maintenance award ceremony.
The annual ‘Golden Spanner’ awards showcase rail operators across the country whose trains have performed the most reliably.
Winners are based on data on train reliability over the past twelve months. Three levels of trophy are awarded: Gold for most reliable, Silver for greatest percentage improvement and Bronze for fastest time for recovery after an incident.
TPE’s Class 185 trains have won a Golden Spanner for the ‘Most Reliable 1st Generation New diesel multiple unit" category for the ninth time.
Paul Staples, Engineering Director at TransPennine Express, said: “Our Class 185s are a hugely important part of the railway and of TPE’s fleet. They have been for many years, and to be recognised this many times for their reliability is an immense achievement.
“This award is testimony to the dedication and effectiveness of all those who operate, manage, maintain and look after the trains as well as their innately resilient design. I am grateful for everything Team 185 does for TPE’s customers every day.”
