A TransPennine Express train service

TransPennine Express hits the right note with extra Marsden stops for jazz festival weekend

TransPennine Express (TPE) will be in tune with festivalgoers this weekend, adding more than 40 extra stops at Marsden station to make travelling to the jazz festival easier than ever for customers.

To meet increased demand and keep visitors moving in harmony, TPE will run a special timetable with additional services calling at Marsden across the weekend.

Between the Friday 10 October and Sunday 12 September TPE’s service between Manchester Victoria and Redcar will include Marsden as an additional stop.

A total of 47 extra stops will be added, meaning passengers will be able to get on or off services at least once an hour from Marsden on Friday from 5:30pm to 10pm and on Saturday and and Sunday between 10am to 1pm and 5pm to 10pm.

The boost means customers will be able to get on or off at Marsden at least twice an hour between these times, providing more flexibility for those travelling to and from Manchester, Huddersfield, Leeds and beyond, whether they’re heading for a headline act or catching a late-night jam.

Hundreds of visitors flock to the village every year for the Marsden Jazz Festival, which showcases a wide range of musicians from internationally acclaimed artists to local school bands and rising talent.

Andrew McClements, Customer Experience & Transformation Director at TransPennine Express said: “We’re proud to support Marsden Jazz Festival and the local community by making it easier for everyone to enjoy this fantastic event.

“The extra services will help reduce congestion, support local businesses, and ensure festivalgoers can travel comfortably.”
