Birkby Infant and Nursery Schoolchildren celebrate the grant from TPE

TransPennine Express hits the right notes with Eurovision grant to Schools

To celebrate this year’s Eurovision Song Contest and inspire the next generation of musicians, TransPennine Express (TPE) has awarded musical grants to five schools based in the north.

The grants totalling £750 each have been gifted to Reston Primary School (Reston), Holy Cross Catholic Primary School (Liverpool), St Raphael’s Catholic Primary School (Stalybridge), Birkby Infant and Nursery School (Huddersfield), Adelaide Primary School (Hull).

The grants which will come as music to the ears of both children and teachers at the schools, will enable them to purchase musical instruments and equipment for lessons and extra-curricular activities.

The schools were awarded grants by TPE as it looks to get children in the rhythm before the UK celebrates hosting the famous competition for the first time in 25 years.

Daniel Fox, community manager at TPE, said: “We’re committed to the communities we serve and recognise the part we play in helping them grow. We help people travel from a to b, whether for work or leisure, visiting attractions or reuniting friends or family but we want to make sure our positive impact extends beyond the station doors, and we love to support our local areas, doing our bit to help them thrive.

“We hope that the grants to the five schools has struck all the right chords and that we inspire the children to become a future Eurovision Song Contest hopeful.”

Jo Hodges at Holy Cross Catholic Primary School said: “We can’t thank TPE enough for the musical grant, the children are all extremely excited that Eurovision is being held in the UK and we have no doubt that they will hit all the right notes with their new musical instruments.”

“The staff at Holy Cross are committed to providing our children with a high-quality music education and equipping our children with the tools and memorable and diverse experiences to understand music’s place with the world and to provide them with the opportunities to engage in the joy of making it. We will ensure that the musical grant from TPE will be used to enhance the existing music provision and work of our dedicated staff further.”
