TransPennine Express offers money-saving deals for young and old(er) with fares as low as £6

Students can now enjoy a 50 per cent discount while over 55s can take advantage of fares of just £25 return across the TPE network over the next few weeks. 

To claim their discount, students with a 16-25 railcard can use the simple code TPESTUDENT on the train operator’s website or app.  

Fares with this offer include:  

Manchester to Glasgow from £10.15 

Manchester to Leeds from £6 

Leeds to Newcastle from £7.75 

York to Edinburgh from £12.55

“With our network serving more than 40 universities across the north of England and Scotland, we’re delighted to be able to offer 50 per cent savings on rail travel to students.” 

Meanwhile, customers aged 55 and over can grab a huge discount on tickets across TPE’s network with prices capped at £25 for a Standard Class return ticket, and at £45 for a First Class ticket.  

Called Club 55, this offer gives people the chance to explore the North of England and Scotland. Customers should carry proof of age with them while travelling. Return journeys are valid for one calendar month and can be purchased up until 11.59pm the day before travelling. This offer is running until Friday 4 April 2024.
