TransPennine Express set to recruit up to five new conductors from Glasgow

TransPennine Express is looking to hire up to five new conductors to join its team in Glasgow.  

The roles are part of an on-going process to recruit as and when existing staff members retire, earn promotions or join another company. 

New recruits will have to pass rigorous interview tests focussing on concentration and customer service as well as undertake around three months training to become a qualified conductor 

The train operator is actively encouraging people with no rail industry experience to apply. 

Andrew McClements, Customer Experience & Transformation Director at TransPennine Express, said: “We have up to five rewarding conductor roles available in Glasgow. 

"We are looking for customer-focused people with excellent communication skills who thrive in a fast-paced environment and may not have considered a career in rail before. 

"Successful applicants will demonstrate a high level of responsibility, a strong work ethic and a commitment to maintaining safety standards.” 

The operator is offering a salary of £27,877 per annum which increases to £36,411 per annum once qualified as well as other benefits including free and discounted rail travel.
