All aboard for Aperol! You can now be served Aperol Spritz on the way to the airport
TransPennine Express (TPE) has launched Aperol Spritz onboard its services, helping holidaymakers in the North start their getaway early.
Forget waiting until the airport for that first holiday drink, passengers can now enjoy a taste of sunshine before they even reach the terminal.
The rail operator has launched 250ml Aperol Spritz To Go cocktail cans across all its catered services, including trains serving Manchester Airport.
TPE is the first rail operator in the North West to serve Aperol Spritz onboard, meaning passengers can sit back, relax and toast their trip while travelling to catch their flight.
Andrew McClements, Customer Experience & Transformation Director for TPE said: “Aperol Spritz has become synonymous with holidays, so we’re delighted to offer it on our services to Manchester Airport. Passengers can sit back, relax and feel as though their getaway has started before they’ve even reached the terminal.”
The cocktail cans are now available onboard for £6.75 and with Advance Purchase train tickets to Manchester Airport available from just £4.20*, passengers could travel to the airport and enjoy an Aperol Spritz for a total of just £10.95.
The drink not just limited to the airport route either it’s available across TPE’s catered network, including services connecting Manchester Airport, Liverpool, York, Sheffield, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as many major stations along these routes.
The Aperol launch is not the only boost for Manchester Airport passengers this year. TPE recently introduced new all-night services between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport as part of its May 2026 timetable.
Trains now run roughly every hour throughout the night, seven days a week, making it easier for passengers with early departures or late arrivals to choose cost-effective rail travel. The services also improve overnight connections for airport and hospitality workers and support Greater Manchester’s night-time economy.
To coincide with the launch, TPE is also offering 20% off Advance Purchase tickets to and from Manchester Airport for customers who have booked holidays with On the Beach.
