Extra late-night train services for fans heading home from Manchester gigs in December to support night-time economy
TransPennine Express (TPE) will run two extra late-night services this month between Manchester and Liverpool for music fans.
Fans of songwriter Paul McCartney and heavy metal rockers Slipknot can now book on to the train operator’s special late-night services so there’s no need to miss the encore.
The first will depart Manchester Airport at 12:50am on Monday 16 December after the former Beatles frontman’s Sunday night gig at Co-op Live Arena.
This train will also stop at Manchester Piccadilly at 1:02am before travelling direct to Liverpool Lime Street.
Another late-night service will run from Manchester Victoria at 12:42 am on Wednesday 18 December to Liverpool Lime Street for rockers returning from the mosh pit at Slipknot’s gig on Tuesday night. This service will also stop at Newton-le-Willows and Lea Green.
Adam Fairclough, Interim Customer Experience & Transformation Director at TransPennine Express, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer these extra services to help get fans home after enjoying these concerts and to support the night-time economy in the area.
“We’re asking our customers to plan ahead and check before they travel as services may be busy.”
Fans who haven’t yet purchased their rail tickets to travel to the concert can do so via TPE’s website: tpexpress.co.uk or on the train operator’s app.
