£500k investment transforms station toilets at Cleethorpes and Scunthorpe
TransPennine Express (TPE) customers travelling through Cleethorpes and Scunthorpe stations will benefit from upgraded toilet facilities following a £500,000 overhaul.
The new toilets, which are free to use, are now open to the public and have been fully refurbished, the upgrades include new toilets, urinals and sinks to create more welcoming facilities for everyone using the stations.
The accessible toilets at both Cleethorpes and Scunthorpe have also been upgraded.
Scott Olivant, Head of Property Projects at TransPennine Express, said: “Good station facilities really matter, and these improvements will make a noticeable difference for people using Cleethorpes and Scunthorpe stations.
“We’ve focused on making the toilets cleaner, brighter and easier for everyone to use, including customers who need accessible facilities.”
The refurbishment work also builds on the wider accessibility improvements already delivered at Cleethorpes station, where a new Changing Places facility opened in early 2025.
The Changing Places facility, located on the station concourse, is a larger accessible toilet featuring specialist equipment including an adult-sized changing bench, hoist, privacy screen and additional space for carers.
The addition of the Changing Places facility has helped make both the station and wider area more accessible for customers and visitors travelling through Cleethorpes.
