TPE issues ‘do not travel’ advice ahead of Storm Jocelyn on services to/from Scotland

TransPennine Express (TPE) is strongly urging customers travelling to/from Edinburgh/Glasgow not to travel after 3pm on Tuesday 23 January.

High winds and heavy rainfall are set to cause major disruption to services in and out of Scotland.

Due to the yellow and amber weather warnings in place, TPE is advising customers not to travel on services in and out of Scotland after 3pm on Tuesday 23 January until 12pm on Wednesday 24 January on the following routes:

  • Preston and Glasgow
  • Preston and Edinburgh
  • Newcastle and Edinburgh

Services across the rest of the network are expected to be impacted, we strongly recommend you check before you travel and plan ahead. Details of specific service updates can be found on JourneyCheck.

Kathryn O’Brien, Customer Experience and Operations Director for TransPennine Express said: “Our number one priority is to keep our customers and colleagues safe, and we will be doing all we can to keep people moving in difficult conditions.

“We are urging anyone travelling across the affected routes to plan ahead, allow extra time, check their journey up until the last minute, and follow the guidance provided.”

 Refunds and ticket acceptance 

Customers with tickets on Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 January for services to and from Manchester, Liverpool, Preston to Carlisle, Glasgow and Edinburgh and between Newcastle and Edinburgh who choose not to travel can claim a full refund.

Those with tickets for Tuesday 23 or Wednesday 24 January for services to and from Manchester, Liverpool, Preston to Carlisle, Glasgow and Edinburgh and between Newcastle and Edinburgh can alternatively use their tickets up to and including Thursday 25 January.
