TPE issues ‘do not travel’ advice ahead of Storm Pia
TransPennine Express (TPE) is strongly urging customers travelling to and from Edinburgh to delay their journey on Thursday 21 December due to significant disruption expected by Storm Pia.
High winds are set to cause major disruption to services in and out of Edinburgh, with speed restrictions in place from the early hours of tomorrow morning until the early afternoon.
Due to the yellow weather warning, TPE is advising customers not to travel on services in and out of Edinburgh until after 3pm, with no TPE services running between Edinburgh and north west England until Thursday afternoon.
Kathryn O’Brien, Customer Experience and Operations Director for TransPennine Express said: “Our number one priority is to keep our customers and colleagues safe, and we will be doing all we can to keep people moving in difficult conditions.
“We are urging anyone travelling across the affected routes to plan ahead, allow extra time, check their journey up until the last minute, and follow the guidance provided.”
Customers can check their services via the TPE website: www.tpexpress.co.uk/travel-updates or at www.nationalrail.co.uk
Anyone that experiences a delay may be entitled to compensation with more information available at: www.tpexpress.co.uk/help/delay-repay-compensation.
