TPE issues ‘Do Not Travel’ message between Preston and Scotland due to severe disruption

TransPennine Express (TPE) is urging customers not to travel between Preston and Scotland today (Thursday 30 May).

There is major disruption to train services following a derailed freight train on the route.

TPE is urging customers not to travel on the following routes:

  • Between Preston and Glasgow Central (in both directions)
  • Between Preston and Edinburgh (in both directions)

Kathryn O’Brien, Customer Experience and Transformation Director for TransPennine Express said: “We are urging anyone travelling today (Thursday 30 May) across the affected routes to defer their travel or claim a refund.”

Ticket acceptance and refunds

Those with tickets for Thursday 30 May for services between Preston, to Carlisle, Glasgow and Edinburgh are advised not to travel and to claim a full refund:

Customers with tickets for travel on Thursday 30 May can alternatively use their tickets up to and including Friday 31 May.
