TPE pitches extra services for FA cup match this weekend in Manchester
Train operator, TransPennine Express (TPE) has boosted its services for customers travelling to and from Manchester for the FA Cup this weekend.
Manchester City are set to host Newcastle United in the FA Cup quarter-finals tomorrow (Saturday 16 March kicking off at 5.30pm) at Etihad Stadium.
TPE is running two extra services between Manchester and Newcastle to get fans to where they need to be.
This will leave Newcastle at 1.01pm, calling only at Chester-le-Street (1.09pm) and Durham (1.16pm) arriving at Manchester Victoria at 3.24pm.
The return journey will leave Manchester Victoria at 9.26pm, stopping only at Durham (11.40pm), Chester-le-Street (11.46pm) and arriving at Newcastle at 11.57pm.
Kathryn O’Brien, Customer Experience Director at TransPennine Express, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer these extra services and to be able to kick-off a great day for our customers looking to enjoy the football this weekend.
“Services may be busy, so we’re asking our customers to plan their journey carefully and allow ‘extra time’ to catch their train.”
