TransPennine Express urges customers do not travel between the Northwest of England and Scotland on Thursday 23 May

Due to the weather causing significant disruption on the West Coast Main Line with flooding on the route north of Carlisle, TransPennine Express (TPE) are strongly advising customers to do not travel on the following routes on Thursday 23 May:

  • Services between Manchester, Liverpool, Preston to Carlisle, Glasgow and Edinburgh

Darren Higgins, Commercial Director at TransPennine Express, said:

“Due to flooding on the railway line north of Carlisle, train services are significantly disrupted.

“The safety of our customers and colleagues is our priority and we are urging customers not to travel between Manchester, Liverpool, Preston to Carlisle, Glasgow and Edinburgh.

“Anyone planning on travelling by train today (Thursday 23 May) can choose to defer their travel or claim a refund.”

Ticket acceptance and refunds

Those with tickets for Thursday 23 May for services between Manchester, Liverpool, Preston to Carlisle, Glasgow and Edinburgh are advised not to travel and to claim a full refund: www.tpexpress.co.uk/help/refunds

Customers with tickets for travel on Thursday 23 May can alternatively use their tickets up to and including Friday 24 May.
